June

"How did it get so late so soon? Its night before its afternoon. December is here before its June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?”

It has been a hectic three weeks.  Maddox is growing and keeping us busy.  He's such a sweet baby! He's smiling more now- sometimes it seems random, but he also seems to smile when we're talking or singing to him.  He also makes a really cute sound that sounds like a baby sigh. Somedays he is calm and other days he wants to be held constantly.  I'm figuring out what I can do with one arm or what can be put off until later.  Brian has worked tons- on Thursday he worked from 6 am until 2 am- yuck!  But his website finally launched on Friday and Maddox and I are looking forward to spending some time with him this week!  Maddox met his Great Grandma and Grandpa Grubbs this week and Brian and I both celebrated our 26th birthdays!  

2 Weeks

Maddox had his 2 week well baby check up today.  He weighs 7 pounds 3.5 ounces and he's 1/2 inch longer.  He's a healthy baby!  He had been sleeping wonderfully at night, but the last two nights have been a different story.  I think I'm going to have to adjust to less flavorful food that sits better in his stomach.   

Father's Day

We celebrated Brian's first Father's Day. Maddox and I "decorated" a baseball for him and we just spent the evening enjoying our new family together. We had lots of visitors this week- Maddox is a popular guy! Maddox met my friend Julie during the week and we walked around the lake. Brian's parents visited on Saturday and my family visited this afternoon.

Hiccups

Maddox had the hiccups and for some reason it was exciting enough for us to film.  That's what happens when you're a cute baby.  Maybe next week there will be some diaper changing footage! 

Brian and I are going to do our best to update the blog every Sunday from now on....

Maddox is here!

Maddox was born June 4th at 2:05 pm. I was induced and everything went perfectly. He weighed 6 pounds 4 ounces and was 20 inches long. We think he's pretty perfect. He's so calm and alert. He is already lifting his head up to check out his surroundings and spends his awake time very wide-eyed. He's a pretty content baby- just cries when he's hungry or needs changed. I just can't stop staring at him! Here are some pictures from the hospital, first bath, etc.  I meant to post sooner, but I just couldn't stand to put Maddox down to type!

My mom has been in town this week working on projects and cooking us real meals! The biggest project was that we found this cool fabric with dragonflies and other bugs and she slip covered an old comfy chair Brian's parents let us have for the nursery/office. We're not doing any particular nursery theme- it's just a collection of whimsical stuff. So far we have a bug chair, a toadstool, and a Cat in the Hat lamp

Tomorrow!

Brian and I have been working on a mobile.  We bought a wire base and have been making black and white drawings on pieces of comic book backing boards.  There's no theme.  It's pretty eclectic, but we've had fun working on a project together and we can change things up later. So far we've just done one side of each of the pieces. 

I had a doctor's appointment on Monday.  Nothing had changed from the previous week.  Ug! But, I'm scheduled to be induced tomorrow morning if labor does not begin before then.  Baby will be here this week for sure!
